  1. Troll 2.... Lol! Well done for putting some context around this sound clip - a Troll 2 gag - inspired! So now you need to give your time and energy to really bringing out the performance - I think you need bigger, more distinct poses to move between... just watch this clip from Toy Story 3 - what you're looking for is all the big readable facial expressions, the way Woody's body 'locks off' in a clear readable pose before flowing into the next pose. It's about going bigger and more readable and not being afraid to push Moom to have a little more fun with his guy! :)

  2. Hi Jess. Have you been able to create reference footage? If not I really recommend having a go at that. It really helps - ALOT. Ask a friend if yyou don't want to watch yourself on screen. In terms of your animation, I start with the 'root' of the character. That's the COG (centre of gravity) control. For example, when you (and you should stand up and try this) stand and talk you shift your weight side to side slightly. We all do that to maintain our balance. Then to compensate for the side to side movement we bend our spines. So if we go left (out left) our spine (and pevis) bends to the right and vice versa. We tend to shift our weight when we say a new line of dialogue or with a change in emotion. If you take a look at you animation so far you can see that Moom looks like he is vertically ridged - Like his is tied to a pole running up his spine. As I said, I start with getting the COG right first (root/spine/pelvis) and then the arms, legs, and head follow. Its easier to think of this bit like you are moving an action figure by the waist pretending to make it talk (as in the video I sent you).
